Foam fire protection system
How does a foam fire protection system work?
Foam-based fire suppression systems are particularly effective in areas that contain grease (such as restaurant kitchens) or fuel oil (such as vehicle engines) thanks to their ability to act quickly and effectively. Foam-based fire extinguishing works by covering the area affected by the fire with a layer of foam to smother the fire and absorb the heat to cool the fuel. In the event of a fire, the system is triggered and spreads a protective foam over all of the protected equipment.
Foam fights fire in several ways:
Foam fights fire in several ways:
- Oxygen exclusion: The layer of foam creates a barrier that prevents oxygen from feeding the fire.
- Surface covering: Prevents the release of steam
- Cooling: Eliminates heat

Why choose a foam fire protection system?
A foam-based fire extinguishing system effectively suppresses fires and secures the area by laying down a layer of foam. Even a thin layer of foam prevents oxygen from feeding the fire and thus prevents the fire from reigniting, which is very important for protecting sensitive areas.
The Triplestar kitchen fire protection system uses F/K Agent foam, which effectively fights fires in oily areas such as commercial kitchens.
It is also effective for vehicle engines; our Compact Line system uses RX-FF1 foam to suppress fires directly in the engine compartment before the fire can spread to the entire vehicle.

Foam fire suppression System – Advantages
- Highly Dependable Fire protection system: no electricity or moving parts.
- Quick & Easy installation directly above high-risk areas.
- Early fire detection: If a flame-up occurs, the heat of the fire triggers the activation by bursting the tube at its hottest spot.
- Effective and premium quality: Firetec foam systems feature reliable technology and exceptional quality.
- Prevents the fire from reigniting: The foam absorbs the heat from the surface on fire.
Key applications of foam fire protection system FireDETEC F/K Agent for kitchen applications
It is impossible to use water to extinguish fires in commercial kitchens (Class K fires) because putting water on a grease fire will only make the situation worse. Our Triplestar automatic fire suppression system is specially designed to protect greasy areas such as deep fryers and kitchen grills. It uses fluorine-free Firedetec F/K extinguishing agent, which fights oil or hood fires in kitchens, canteens and restaurants.
The foam used to extinguish the fire is not harmful to the environment and is biodegradable. FireDETEC® F/K Agent is very easy to clean after the system has been activated and allows for a quick return to business, with minimal downtime.

RX-FF1 Foam Agent for vehicle applications
A fire starting in an engine compartment can be difficult to control. With an automatic fire detection and foam suppression system, the fire is extinguished before it can even spread. The Compact Line foam-based fire protection system effectively protects your vehicles; its foam is fluorine-free and effective at extinguishing hydrocarbon fires.
RX-FF1 foam is formulated with solvents, hydrocarbon surfactants and additives and does not contain any type of organo halogen compound; it is easily biodegradable and environmentally friendly. RX-FF1 forms a resistant foam that isolates the fuel from oxygen and extinguishes the fire. The fire-fighting performance of RX-FF1 is similar to that of fluorinated foam concentrates in hydrocarbon fuel fires. Suitable for class B fires, RX-FF1 can be used down to 0°C.

Foam Fire Suppression System – FAQ
What is foam fire suppression?
Foam fire suppression is a fire protection method that uses foam as extinguishing agent, for fire involving flammable liquids like gasoline, oil, or cooking grease. Instead of just spraying water, the system releases a mixture of foam concentrate, water, and air, which expands into a blanket of bubbles.
How does foam fire suppression systems work?
Foam-based fire suppression systems operate by blanketing the affected area with foam, which cuts off the fire’s oxygen supply and helps dissipate heat to lower the temperature of the fuel. When a fire is detected, the system activates automatically and releases a layer of foam over all protected equipment.
