How Water Mist Fire Protection Works
Water mist fire protection works by discharging water in very fine droplets for rapid fire suppression. This system is an excellent way of protecting engines against fire, as it extinguishes the fire through a variety of mechanisms.
- Cooling effect: The fine droplets of extinguishing agent absorb the heat, cooling the flames and reducing the temperature of the fire.
- Fuel wetting: A water mist system acts as a shield by absorbing the heat of the fire and thus limits its spread
- Oxygen Displacement: When the fine drops of water come into contact with the fire, they evaporate, and this displaces the oxygen from the area of the fire.

Water Mist Protection - FireDETEC® TS55 ea
The Compact Line® System use FireDETEC® TS55 ea as an extinguishing agent. It’s a water-based, fluorine-free and PFAS-free Long Life Suppression Agent (10 years) with anti-freeze agents for fire protection and for areas subjected to frost with a freeze protection down to -55°C.
FireDETEC® TS55 is readily biodegradable where 97% of the fluid will be consumed after 7 days in comparison to glycol-based antifreeze fluids where the biodegradability is only 70-85 % after 28 days.
