FireDETEC Clean-Agent Systems are UL Approved

Systems Meet Stringent UL Quality, Safety and Performance Requirements
FireDETEC Clean-Agent Systems are UL Approved

Lintgen, Luxembourg — 18 February, 2014 — FireDETEC®, part of the Firetec unit of Rotarex, SA, announced that its clean-agent systems and components have received the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification approval. This certification applies to FireDETEC ILP Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems containing Dupont® FM-200® that are properly configured and installed according to NFPA 2001 standards.

These units are pressurized with dry nitrogen to 240 psi at 70°F (21° C), with operating temperatures of +32°F to +130° F (0°C to 54°C). The FireDETEC systems are designed for total flooding protection against Class A surface burning, Class B flammable liquid and Class C fires occurring within an enclosure.

Hugues Rossion, a member of the FireDETEC R&D team, commented: “the UL certification confirms that FireDETEC systems meet the stringent quality, safety and performance requirements established by the UL 2166 fire standard.” The UL 2166 standard covers the construction and operation of halocarbon clean agent fire extinguishing systems in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association Standard NFPA 2001.

Mr. Rossion went on to say “that FireDETEC clean-agent systems are proven to effectively detect and suppress fires in enclosed machinery and equipment.” UL approval is now part of the growing list of FireDETEC system certifications that include FM-approval, SP-approval and LPCB certification.

About FireDETEC
FireDETEC compact fire suppression systems are designed specifically for critical equipment and machinery at high risk for fire. It protects the spaces left under-protected by traditional fire fighting systems. Flexible fire sensor tubing using pneumatic technology is installed between the critical circuitry and mechanics, closer to where fire starts. Quickly detecting a young fire and triggering immediate release of an extinguishing agent, FireDETEC systems suppress a fire before it can do significant damage. FireDETEC technology is operating in over 60,000 installations worldwide.
