The Advantages of Choosing UL Approved Fire Suppression Systems

The Underwriters Laboratories is known worldwide for its expertise in evaluating the effectiveness and safety of a wide range of products. Through a comprehensive process of certification, validation, testing, inspection and auditing, Underwriters Laboratories enforces standards that set a high bar for quality, safety and performance.
The Advantages of Choosing UL Approved Fire Suppression Systems

With UL approval, purchasers can be confident that products will operate as promised by the manufacturer.

When it comes to fire protection, UL approval is especially important since lives, mission-critical equipment and business continuity depend upon effective fire suppression systems.

One of Underwriters Laboratories key principles is to “promote safe working environments.” In keeping with this goal, it has evaluated clean-agent fire suppression systems. Under protocols set in the UL 2166 standard, it evaluated the “construction and operation of halocarbon clean agent fire extinguishing system units intended to be installed, inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with the Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems, NFPA 2001."

FireDETEC ILP Clean Agent Extinguishing Systems containing Dupont® FM-200® are UL approved. This confirms that FireDETEC clean agent systems meet the stringent quality, safety and performance requirements established by the UL 2166 fire standard. These units are pressurized with dry nitrogen to 240 psi at 70°F (21° C), with operating temperatures of +32°F to +130° F (0°C to 54°C). The FireDETEC systems are designed for total flooding protection against Class A surface burning, Class B flammable liquid and Class C fires occurring within an enclosure.

Engineers, system designers and business owners can choose FireDETEC clean-agent systems knowing that every component has been rigorously tested by Underwriters Laboratories. For CNC machines, electrical cabinets, fume cabinets or any enclosed machinery and equipment, FireDETEC clean agent extinguishing systems are UL certified to be effective in suppressing fire.

UL approval is now part of the growing list of FireDETEC system certifications that include FM-approval, SP-approval and LPCB certification.
