Rotarex Firetec Innovations in Fire Suppression Systems

It’s not a surprise that Rotarex Firetec will be introducing 4 major innovations at the Interschutz 2015 event in June. For over 80 years, it has been designing innovative valves for fire suppression applications, and today counts over 10 million valves currently in service.
Rotarex Firetec Innovations in Fire Suppression Systems

In the 1930’s the company set out to improve valve performance. Our first valve design patents date back to 1932 and recognition of the innovative designs and high quality came fast. In 1935, we were awarded several industrial design awards at the Brussels Industrial Show.

The company’s commitment to innovation and quality continued throughout the years, reaching new heights after Mr. Jean-Claude Schmitz became CEO in 1976. Determined to achieve worldwide success, he focused on innovation and made Rotarex one of the first gas companies in the world to create a dedicated R&D infrastructure. In an article that appeared in the March edition of Gasworld magazine, Mr. Schmitz said: “We created a state-of-the-art testing laboratory with computer aided design equipment and hired the best-and-brightest engineers and technicians to run it – and some of the early innovations were huge successes.”

Now, each of the 6 Rotarex business units has its own R&D facilities. From Rotarex Firetec we count many important recent innovations, including the revolutionary FireDETEC compact fire suppression system that protects mission-critical equipment from the inside — where fire is likely to start. With advanced sensor tubing technology, early fire detection and fast suppression is ensured. And, for fixed installation systems, we’ve produced a break-through digital gas management system (DIMES) that enhances security and productivity.

Mr. Schmitz told Gasworld that “we have a full pipeline of advanced technology projects in laboratories” and clearly, “R&D will remain our priority.” Be sure to visit us at Interschutz 2015 in Hannover, Germany, which takes place from June 8-13. We’ll unveil a major safety and productivity enhancement for Inert Gas and Chemical Agent Fixed Systems, new certifications, a new chemical agent valve that improves discharge speed, a second detection method for FireDETEC object protection systems targeted for electrical cabinet fire protection, and much more.

The image shown with this blog is a great example of cross-over innovation. Here, technology from our pressure regulator and cryogenic business is applied to Fire System valves – creating a valve with a pressure regulator that prevents freezing when discharging.

At Interschutz 2015, you can find Rotarex Firetec at Hall 13, Stand C43.
